TRIP TO CLUBE ESPORTE CRUZEIRO, BELO HORIZONE, BRAZIL AUGUST 3RD TO 15TH, 2010

Fifteen boys ages 14-16 accompanied by TSC director Al Albert and FC Frederick DOC Bo Eskay travelled to Belo Horizonte, Brazil for the soccer experience of a lifetime. The group stayed at the brand new hotel on the site of Toca I de Raposa, the long time center of training for the Cruzeiro youth teams. The group ate, slept and trained in the same fashion as the signed residential professional youth players of Cruzeiro, one of the oldest and most famous professional clubs in Brazil. The group consisted of 11 FC Frederick players, plus two guest players from Virginia and two from South Carolina.

During their ten night stay at Toca I, the team played 5 matches, including 2 against the Cruzeiro youth teams. They also went to a professional outdoor match, a professional futsal game, the Toca II professional training center, the Cruzeiro store, the traditional Sunday street market, the classic Mercado Central shopping area, a churrascaria restaurant and a modern Brazilian shopping mall. The boys won two of their matches and lost the other 3 by close scores.

RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BRAZIL EXPERIENCE

The Tidewater Soccer Camp is proud to announce the re-establishment of its Brazil Experience. In August of 2010, in partnership with DeLima Soccer Enterprises, TSC will promote a trip to Cruziero Football Club in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The trip will be geared towards highly competitive players between the ages of 14 and 18 and will take place from August 3 to 15. Cost including airfare will be approximately $3000 for the 10-12 day trip. The group will spend ten nights in Brazil at the Cruzeiro youth training center.

Camp director Al Albert will be accompanying the group from Washington, DC to Belo Horizonte and back. Participants will need a US passport and a visa from the Brazilian consulate.

Previously TSC has promoted three successful trips to Athletico Paranaense in Curitiba, Brazil. This will be TSC's first venture to the famous Cruziero, developer of the Brazilian World Cup star Ronaldo.

TIDWATER SOCCER CAMP AT ARK PARK

The form for the Tidewater Soccer Camp at Ark Park in Gloucester is now available here.

Enrollment is open and will continue right up until the first day of camp. To guarantee a space, print the application and mail with a check by June 15th to Tidewater Soccer Camp, Box 399, Williamsburg, VA 23187.

 

DAY CAMPS IN 2009

After 35 years of running residential camps, the Tidewater Soccer Camp will only be running day camps in 2009.

We have enjoyed giving the overnight soccer camping experience to thousands of young men and women since 1974, but for the time being, we will be focusing on day camps such as the ones we will be running for Gloucester County (VA) and Dare County (NC). We encourage anyone who is looking for a great overnight experience to visit the William and Mary soccer camps links at www.tribeathletics.com. Both Chris Norris and John Daly of W&M run excellent programs and will be able to accommodate you.

In  addition, the planned  09 trip to Brazil is being postponed due to the economic conditions at this time. We hope to revive this experience sometime in the future. Again, anyone interested in this possibility should contact Miguel deLima of Delima Soccer Enterprises at delimasoccer@aol.com.

THE BRAZIL EXPERIENCE 2009

A trip to Brazil for the summer of 2009 is planned for boys 13 and older.

Players must be at an advanced level and preference will be given to those players who have previously attended a Tidewater Soccer Camp session. Details should be available in late fall of this year.

 

2009 CAMP

Staff for the camp this summer from July 27-31 include Al Albert, Tim Cristian (DOC of the Virginia Legacy), Jeff Gross (DOC of FC Frederick), Justin Isaacs (Richmond Kickers and Hampden-Sydney College) and Jonny Kamara (Virginia Legacy). There are still openings for boys ages 12-16.

The new website for the William and Mary camp session July 6-10 formerly conducted as part of this camp can now be found at www.colonialkicks.webnode.com.

As of March 1st, we will have open enrollment for the July 27-31 camp at Christchurch. Applicants from the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club and FC Frederick can still use the special applications prepared for their clubs. All other applicants should use the regular application form found on the signup page of this website. BEGINNING IN THE SUMMER OF 2008, THE WILLIAM AND MARY SESSION WILL NO LONGER BE OPERATED BY TIDEWATER SOCCER CAMP

W&M Head Men's Soccer Coach Chris Norris will be running a session from July 6-10 on the Williamsburg campus and we recommend that you contact him at cmnorr@wm.edu or 757-221-3385 if you are interested in that program. The Adin Brown Goalkeeping Academy session will also be held in conjunction with that session at W&M.

Our camp will be operating a single session for boys at the Christchurch School location from July 27-31. Registration for this program up until March 1st will be offered exclusively to travel soccer players 12-18 from the Virginia Legacy SC and FC Frederick .

Open online registration for the camp session at Christchurch will begin March 1st at this site. You may download an application form from the site and mail it in with a deposit check at any time. We have begun a waiting list of non Virginia Legacy and FC Frederick players and will begin to accept those applicants on a first come- first serve basis after March 1st.

We hope you will consider this outstanding opportunity for a high level soccer training experience this summer.

2006 CAMPS AND TRIP ARE COMPLETE

- The 2006 camp sessions at William and Mary and Christchurch School were both filled to capacity and 15 boys made the trip down to Clube Atletico Paranaense in Curitiba, Brazil. Overall, it was one of the most successful camp summers in the 33 year history of the Tidewater Soccer Camps.

Camp dates for 2007 will be announced soon. The Brazil trip in the summer of 2007 tentatively will be from August 7th to 20th. For details, email us at afalbe@wm.edu or cmnorr@wm.edu or call the W&M soccer office at 757-221-3385.

 

TWO PLAYERS ADDED FOR BRAZIL -

Jason Gannon and Gregory Goldbach from northern Virginia have been added to the group going to Atletico Paranaense on June 21st. The entire group will assemble in Miami that evening for an overnight flight to Curitiba in southern Brazil. Once at the training center of Atletico, they will be immersed in the youth professional system of the club. This is the second year of this program. Last year, 18 youth players went on the first trip to Brazil co-sponsored by the Tidewater Soccer Camp and Delima Soccer Enterprises.
 

BRAZIL TRIP 2006-

Eleven players from five states and Bermuda have committed to the Brazil trip June 21st to July 3rd. Noah Jefferson, James Flynn, Patrick Williams, Eric Hernandez and Christian Waterman from Virginia, Charlie Crawford from Georgia, Keith Love and Andrew Steedman from Massachusetts, Harrison Wagner from New Jersey, Jacob Roberts from Minnesota and Douglas Olson from Bermuda will train with the youth players of Clube Atletico Paranaense in Curitiba, Brazil. The boys will also have the experience of being in Brazil during the World Cup. We do still have several spots open, so email for information at afalbe@wm.edu.
 

FUTSAL CHAMPIONS-

Congratulations to the WSC Phoenix U-14's girls, the WSC Phoenix U-18's girls, WSC WizardsU-14 boys, Gloucester High School boys and WSC Wizards U-16 boys - all champions on the first two days of the Fifth Annual Futsal Tournament at the Christchurch School Fieldhouse. Runnersup from the past three days and results from past seasons can be found on the futsal page. Thanks to the 30 teams that made this year's tournament a success.
 

BRAZIL TRIP SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE-

A number of players have started the process of preparing for our second annual trip to Brazil but there are still openings for qualified individuals. Atletico Paranaense is one of the top clubs in the world and the opportunity to travel there for 10-12 days and train alongside top Brazilians youth professionals is phenomenal. RESIDENTIAL CAMPS FILLING QUICKLY FOR 2005-

With three residential sessions this summer as opposed to four in 2004, it appears that the W&M session from July 10-14 and the Older Camp at Christchurch from July 31 - August 4 will probably both reach capacity sometime in late June. Please do not wait until the last minute this year to sign up, as we may have to close registration for one or both of these sessions before they are held.

 

THE BRAZIL TRIP FOR THIS SUMMER IS FULL! -

18 players will accompany Al and Gail Albert to the Clube Atletico Paranaense training center in Curitiba, Brazil from June 30th to July 11th. Please attend one of our camp sessions in July or August if you are interested in travelling to Brazil with us in the summer of 2006. TEAMS SIGNING UP FOR THE CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS -

Several teams have already committed to one of the Christchurch sessions, which are also open to individuals, but are designed for teams to come and train for the week as a team. Check which teams are already committed to come to camp this summer!

 

BRAZIL UPDATE -

The trip to Clube Atletico Paranaense now has 12 commitments and 3 others pending. We expect the list of players going to be finalized by early March. The trip has been moved back one day to June 30th to July 11th so that the group will be able to attend the local derby between Atletico and crosstown rival Curitiba FC in their own stadium on July 10th.
 

BRAZIL TRIP TAKES SHAPE -

4 players have already signed up for the inagural Tidewater Soccer Camp trip to Curitiba, Brazil from June 29th to July 10th. The group will ultimately number between 10-20 13 to 20 year old players. Clube Atletico Paranaense in Curitiba is sending its u-18 team to the Dallas Cup to defend its Supergroup title and will also host an NSCAA international premier course in May. This trip represents an opporunity for high level players to be mainstreamed into the daily training of a top Brazilian professional organization. Individual registration opened today for all three sessions of the Tidewater Soccer Camp this summer, as well as both sessions of the Adin Brown Goalkeeping Academy. 4th ANNUAL FUTSAL TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD DECEMBER 27th to DECEMBER 30th AT CHRISTCHURCH

Applications are being accepted for our annual futsal tourney. Please make sure you get organized early to avoid being closed out. AL ALBERT RECEIVES NATIONAL COACHING AWARD-

Camp director Al Albert received the Bill Jeffrey Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The award, given only once a year at the group's annual convention, honors an individual for his or her longtime contribution to college soccer. Albert just completed his 33rd season as William and Mary head men's soccer coach and is one of only 8 college Division 1 coaches to have won 400 games.

GIRLS' TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT YOUNGER TEAM CAMP AT CHRISTCHURCH -

For the first time, girls' teams will be a part of the July 25-29 team camp. Several teams are expected to take advantage of this opportunity to play against boys teams and enjoy the excellent training environment. We will also be accepted selected female goalkeepers at each session of the Adin Brown Goalkeeping Academy.

The Adin Brown Goalkeeping Academy was founded by Adin Brown with the help of his college coach and mentor Al Albert. Adin's academy is a fusion of MLS star power and expert goalkeeping instruction. The academy features the coaching staff from the College of William and Mary, the place where Adin refined his skills between the pipes. THIRD ANNUAL FUTSAL TOURNEY -

Futsal is a game developed in South America. The ball is small and does not bounce as much as a regular soccer ball. Teams will play a minimum of three 24 minute games. Five will be on the court, plus a goalkeeper. A roster may number nine players. Entry fee is $125 per team. Read More

END OF SUMMER COMMENTS -

Thanks to everyone who attended camp this summer. We had a great 5 weeks with over 500 campers total. The staff was excellent and we hope many will return next summer for our 31st season. Please stay tuned for our third annual Christchurch Futsal Tournament the two weekends after Xmas. We hope to see you all in 2004.
